Welcome to Bergen County's Hidden Gem of Nature

Nestled off 9W in Tenafly, NJ, a tranquil road, located by the sign pictured above, leads you to our entrance. Unlock the gate with your key provided with membership, renew annually for uninterrupted passage, and embark on a journey unlike any other to be found on the Palisades' cliffs. Discover an extraordinary preserve of 165 diverse acres with over 6 miles of trails to explore. This remarkable habitat includes a serene 5-acre pond, 250-foot waterfall, over 200 bird species, a wide array of mammals, amphibians and abundant variety of flora.

Palisades Nature Association, (PNA) is a non-profit organization of conservation-minded people, founded in 1946 to preserve the natural character of the Palisades cliffs and to develop a wild sanctuary.  Today PNA administers Greenbrook Sanctuary.​ Members are required to follow the rules and regulations to support our conservation efforts, ensure the safety of fellow members, preserve the wildlife and natural environment of Greenbrook Sanctuary.

Rules & Regulations

No pets are allowed in the Sanctuary in order to preserve the natural environment

No fishing

No biking is allowed on the trails

No cross country skiing

No sharing or loaning Sanctuary keys

Members must lock the gate upon entering and leaving, exercise care not to allow non-members to enter

For members and visitor's protection, names must be logged on the registration list at the bulletin board in the parking area

The Sanctuary is open to members dawn to dusk

To prevent fires and litter, smoking is allowed only in the parking area, and eating is allowed only in the picnic area

Members must remain on marked trails only and must not remove or disturb plants or animals

Snowshoes are permitted on the trail

Member's  guests are welcome, but membership is required if visits are repeated

Family members under 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times

All groups, school children, adults, or otherwise, must arrange for the trip to the Sanctuary through the Director-Naturalist
