harvest super moon October

The harvest super moon on October 6, 2025, will reach peak illumination at 11:47 p.m. EDT, making it the largest and brightest full Moon of the year. This supermoon will appear larger and brighter because it's near its closest point to Earth (perigee). This is a rare October Harvest Moon, as the Harvest Moon, which traditionally falls in September, is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox.

Date: October 6, 2025

Peak Illumination: 11:47 p.m. EDT

Significance: It is the first of three consecutive supermoons in 2025 and carries the name "Harvest Moon" because it is the closest full moon to the autumnal equinox.

Appearance: The Moon will appear larger and brighter than a typical full moon.

Timing: It will rise just after sunset, casting a warm, golden glow across the landscape.

Greenbrook in Autumn’s Breath

At Greenbrook’s edge, the seasons sigh,

A whisper woven through the sky.

The canopy blushes, gold and flame,

Each leaf a herald, none the same.

The breeze turns crisp, a gentle call,

That stirs the soul of vibrant fall.

Invasive species of NJ

Invasive plant species in New Jersey include Japanese Barberry, Japanese Knotweed, Multiflora Rose, English Ivy, and Tree of Heaven. Many of these were introduced as ornamental plants or for erosion control and have since spread, outcompeting native plants. Organizations like The Native Plant Society of New Jersey advise against planting invasive species and encourage removal from properties. [1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Here's a more detailed look at some of the most problematic invasive plants in New Jersey:

Terrestrial Invasive Plants:

  • Japanese Barberry: (Berberis thunbergii)

  • Japanese Knotweed: (Reynoutria japonica)

  • Multiflora Rose: (Rosa multiflora)

A poem, Greenbrook winter walk

In a forest dressed in winter's white, Where snow lies gently, pure and bright, Birds sing sweetly, a gentle call, Nature's symphony, a soothing thrall.

Waterfalls cascade with grace, Their gentle roar, a calming embrace. The scent of pine, the earth so fresh, A walk in nature, pure and blessed.

At Greenbrook Sanctuary, peace is found, With trails that weave through hallowed ground. By a lake so clear and bright, Ripples dance in the soft light.

A dip, a splash, or simply rest, Nature's beauty at its best. As evening falls, a meal to share, In a cozy spot, with laughter there.

Flavors rich, a hearty feast, Contentment grows, worries cease. A day well spent, in nature's care, With peace and joy beyond compare.

A perfect blend of all you seek, In forest walks and moments meek.
